The Booklist Reader. For the past 2. 1 years, Booklist has published a Mystery Showcase issue in spring. For the past eight, The Booklist Reader has augmented that showcase with Mystery Month, which lasts throughout May. As we embark on our 2. May 1 issue of Booklist. It gets harder and harder to limit our selection of the year’s best crime novels to 2. This year, to help narrow the field, we have weighted our choices in the top 1. Inevitably, this excludes many outstanding crime novels in much- loved series by some of the most revered authors in the field—Louise Penny, Michael Connelly, Donna Leon, and James Lee Burke, to mention only a few who wrote great books over the last 1. The titles below were reviewed in Booklist from May 1, 2. April 1. 5, 2. 01. TOP 1. 0 CRIME NOVELSThe Boy who Escaped Paradise, by J. M. Lee. Is apparent North Korean defector Gil- mo really an assassin or an autistic mathematical savant? As Lee slowly reveals Gil- mo’s story, he creates a dignified and moving portrait of North Koreans’ struggle for freedom at home and abroad, intertwining it with the compelling adventure of a rogue- genius—all without sacrificing the appeal of either plotline. Celine, by Peter Heller. Celine, a nearly 7. PI, sets off from Brooklyn to California to determine if a famous photographer was really killed by a bear in Yosemite National Park. This captivating, brainy, and funny tale about the mysterious powers of beauty and grief will leave readers hoping that Heller is planning a National Park series featuring the irrepressible Celine and her laconic husband, Pete, who always has his beloved’s back (and her oxygen). Dark Side of the Moon, by Les Wood. Yes, this is a caper novel in which the dialogue zings like that of Donald E. Westlake, but there is something darker lurking below the immensely readable surface of Wood’s story about a Glasgow crime boss out to steal a diamond from its display, where it sits “like a drop of blood on a dagger point.” The revelations in the twisty finale are backdropped by a conflagration that is a magnificent piece of writing purely on its own. A fiercely beautiful novel. Darktown, by Thomas Mullen. The Year’s Best Dark Fantasy & Horror: 2017. Spiegelman’s ability to burst his characters into throbbing life in a few short paragraphs—combined with a prose style capable of snapping our heads with a staccato succession of perfectly landed prose jabs—will leave readers rubbing their jaws in wonderment. Let the Devil Out, by Bill Loehfelm. New Orleans rookie cop and loose cannon Maureen Coughlin is tasked with helping the FBI track a white supremacist group. Will Maureen go rogue again, or will she channel what she calls her “killing feeling” into doing good police work? Not only has Loehfelm created the most compelling, complex patrol cop in the genre; he has also reenergized New Orleans as a setting for the best in crime fiction, edgy, dangerous, but pulsing with life. Razor Girl, by Carl Hiassen. Merry Mansfield, the Razor Girl, is sharp, that’s for sure, and one of the coolest characters Hiaasen has ever brought to the page. She runs car- crash scams but has the proverbial heart of gold, which lands her bejeweled flip- flops in a diabolically complicated story that skewers phony reality shows and the fine folks who bring them to us. This is the ultimate beach read for anyone with a taste for Hiaasen’s skewed view of a Florida slouching toward Armageddon. Revolver, by Duane Swierczynski. BEST CRIME FICTION DEBUTSThe Dry, by Jane Harper. Harper’s small- town, big- secrets page- turner tells the story of Aaron Falk, who returns to his Australian hometown to attend the funeral of a friend believed to have shot his wife and son and then killed himself. Falk begins to question the details of the crime and, together with the town’s police sergeant, undertakes an investigation that unearths secrets new and old, some involving Falk’s father. A stunning debut reminiscent of Peter Corliss’ Cliff Hardy series. The Girl Before, by Rena Olsen. Clara Lawson is in her kitchen brushing her daughter’s hair when armed men dressed in black break in and take her family. The last words Clara hears from her beloved husband, Glenn, are, “Say nothing.” A powerful psychological thriller that explores the line between victim and victimizer and shows how cruelty can be counterbalanced by compassion and love. IQ, by Joe Ide. Isaiah Quintabe, known as IQ in his East Long Beach neighborhood, is a Sherlock- inspired, off- the- grid sleuth. Ide, whose own background is similar to Isaiah’s (bright kid growing up in the ghetto and loving Sherlock for his ability to triumph on intelligence alone), dexterously juggles multiple styles and tones to create a seamless, utterly entertaining blend of coming- of- age saga, old- school detective story, and comic caper novel. Little Deaths, by Emma Flint. This compelling crime- fiction debut is clearly based on the Alice Crimmins case, in which the New York woman was convicted and served a prison sentence for the 1. This is absolutely absorbing literary crime fiction, perfect for fans of Megan Abbott and Sarah Waters. Look forward to more from the gifted Flint, who has revealed in interviews that she has been a reader of true crime since childhood. Long Black Veil, by Jennifer Finney Boylan. Thirty years ago, six college friends set out to explore an abandoned prison. One of the group disappeared, and his body has now been found. Boylan, the author of acclaimed memoirs exploring her transgender experience, doesn’t miss a storytelling beat here, blending atmospheric elements of a Shirley Jackson–like haunting, a secret- laden murder tale featuring an ensemble cast, and an eye- opening glimpse into the complex choices transgender people face. My Husband’s Wife, by Jane Corry. Lies fester and multiply, undermining intimate relationships in this psychological thriller. Lawyer Lilly Hall and artist Ed Mc. Donald are hiding plenty about their pasts even before Ed’s painting of nine- year- old Carla brings him fame. When the manipulative Carla, now a grown woman, reenters their lives, very bad things happen. Corry skillfully intertwines plotlines and jumps back and forth in time, shrewdly building suspense until the end. Shadow Man, by Alan Drew. Drew’s psychological thriller beats to multiple hearts of darkness as a former cop and a forensic specialist, both with their own demons, struggle to find a serial killer who has brought terror to a Southern California town in the 1. Drew treats young victims and troubled investigators with the same sensitivity while offering a powerful eulogy to a California landscape under assault from rampant development. She Rides Shotgun, by Jordan Harper. After short- timer Nate Mc. Clusky kills a member of the Aryan Steel prison gang, he is released from jail to find the gang has put a death warrant on his head. Taking to the road with his 1. Nate sets out to hit the gang where it hurts. Reading like mid- period James Ellroy, this is both a dark, original take on the chase novel and a strangely touching portrait of a father- daughter relationship framed in barbed wire. Three Years with the Rat, by Jay Hosking. Neuroscientist Hosking turns in a startlingly fine performance with his first novel, about a man so determined to find his missing sister that he risks his own reality to solve the mystery of her disappearance. It’s quickly apparent that this is one of those mind- bending thrillers in which time and space are fluid concepts, but Hosking draws us in completely to his labyrinthine narrative. The Trouble with Goats and Sheep, by Joanna Cannon. During the hot English summer of 1. Margaret Creasy goes missing, and 1. Gracie Bennett and her best friend, Tilly, set out to find her. In a masterfully constructed plot, Gracie—who sniffs out the lies told by her adult neighbors—learns a lesson about loyalty and true friendship, as secrets born of shame are gradually revealed. An understated, quirky debut distinguished by its pitch- perfect prose and intriguing structure. ![]() Nanaka 6/17 Episode 7. Nanaka 6/17 Episode 7 English Subbed at gogoanime. Category: TV Series. The evil clown is a subversion of the traditional comic clown character, in which the playful trope is instead rendered as disturbing through the use of horror elements and dark humor. The modern archetype of the evil clown was popularized by Stephen King's 1. ![]() ![]() Hey there Horror Fans! Got a inkling for a scary clown movie? Do creepy clowns freak you out? How about just plain haunting face paint that rubs you the wrong way?It. The character can be seen as playing off the sense of unease felt by sufferers of coulrophobia. Origins[edit]The modern archetype of the evil clown has unclear origins; the stock character appeared infrequently during the 1. Edgar Allan Poe's "Hop- Frog",[1] which is believed by Jack Morgan, of the University of Missouri- Rolla, to draw upon an earlier incident "at a masquerade ball", in the 1. King narrowly escaping in the actual case."[2] Evil clowns also occupied a small niche in drama, appearing in the 1. La femme de Tabarin by Catulle Mendès and in Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci (accused of being a plagiarism of Mendès' piece), both works featuring murderous clowns as central characters.[3][4]The modern stock character of the evil clown was popularized by Stephen King's novel It, published in 1. In the novel, the eponymous character is a pan- dimensional monster which feeds mainly on children by luring them in the form of Pennywise the Dancing Clown and then assuming the shape of whatever the victim fears the most. Another one of the first appearances of the concept is that of John Wayne Gacy, an American serial killer and rapist arrested in 1. Killer Clown after it was discovered he had performed as Pogo the Clown at children's parties and other events; however, Gacy did not actually commit his crimes while wearing his clown costume.[5]The evil clown archetype plays strongly off the sense of dislike it caused to inherent elements of coulrophobia; however, it has been suggested by Joseph Durwin[6] that the concept of evil clowns has an independent position in popular culture, arguing that "the concept of evil clowns and the widespread hostility it induces is a cultural phenomenon which transcends just the phobia alone". A study by the University of Sheffield concluded "that clowns are universally disliked by children. Some found them quite frightening and unknowable."[7][8] This may be because of the nature of clowns' makeup hiding their faces, making them potential threats in disguise; as a psychology professor at California State University, Northridge stated, young children are "very reactive to a familiar body type with an unfamiliar face".[9] This natural dislike of clowns makes them effective in a literary or fictional context, as the antagonistic threat perceived in clowns is desirable in a villainous character. Researcher Ben Radford, who published Bad Clowns[1. When writing the book Bad Clowns, Radford found that professional clowns are not generally fond of the bad- clown (or evil- clown) persona. They see them as "the rotten apple in the barrel, whose ugly sight and smell casts suspicion on the rest of them," and do not wish to encourage or propagate coulrophobia. Yet, as Radford discovered, bad clowns have existed throughout history: Harlequin, the King's fool, and Mr. Punch. Radford argues that bad clowns have the "ability to change with the times" and that modern bad clowns have evolved into Internet trolls. They may not wear clown costume but, nevertheless, engage with people for their own amusement, abuse, tease and speak what they think of as the "truth" much like the court jester and "dip clowns" do using "human foibles" against their victims. Radford states that, although bad clowns permeate the media in movies, TV, music, comics, and more, the "good clowns" outnumber the bad ones. Research shows that most people do not fear clowns but actually love them and that bad clowns are "the exception, not the rule."[1. Interpretations[edit]. Generic "evil clown" makeup. The concept of the evil clown is related to the irrational fear of clowns, known as coulrophobia. The cultural critic Mark Dery has theorized the postmodernarchetype of the evil clown in "Cotton Candy Autopsy: Deconstructing Psycho- Killer Clowns" (a chapter in his cultural critique The Pyrotechnic Insanitarium: American Culture on the Brink).[1. Tracking the image of the demented or deviant clown across popular culture, Dery analyzes the "Pogo the Clown" persona of the serial killer. John Wayne Gacy; the obscene clowns of the neo- situationist. Cacophony Society; the Joker (of "Batman" Fame); the grotesque art of R. K. Sloane; the sick- funny Bobcat Goldthwaite comedy Shakes the Clown; and Pennywise the Dancing Clown from Stephen King's It. Using Mikhail Bakhtin's theory of the carnivalesque, Jungian and historical writings on the images of the fool in myth and history, and ruminations on the mingling of ecstasy and dread in the Information Age, Dery asserts the evil clown is an icon of our times. Clowns are often depicted as murderous psychopaths at many American haunted houses. Wolfgang M. Zucker points out the similarities between a clown's appearance and the cultural depictions of demons and other infernal creatures, noting "[the clown's] chalk- white face in which the eyes almost disappear, while the mouth is enlarged to a ghoulish bigness looks like the mask of death".[1. Urban legends and incidents[edit]Bad clowns[edit]Researcher Ben Radford, looking at the phenomenon of bad clowns throughout history, writes that clowns are seen as trickers, fools, and more; however, they always are in control, speak their minds, and can get away with doing so. When writing the book Bad Clowns, Radford found that professional clowns are not generally fond of the bad- clown persona. Punch. Research shows that most people do not fear clowns but actually love them and that bad clowns are "the exception, not the rule."[1. Phantom clowns[edit]The related urban legend of evil clown sightings in real life is known as "phantom clowns".[1. First reported in 1. Brookline, Massachusetts, children said that men dressed up as clowns had attempted to lure them into a van.[1. The panic spread throughout the US in the Midwest and Northeast. It resurfaced in 1. Phoenix, Arizona; in 1. West Orange, New Jersey; [1. Honduras. Later sightings included Chicago, Illinois, in 2. Explanations for the phenomenon have ranged from Stephen King's book It and the crimes of serial killer John Wayne Gacy,[1. Satanic ritual abuse.[1. It also shows similarities to the story of the Pied Piper of Hamlin.[1. No adult or police officer has ever seen the evil clowns,[1. Northampton Clown" has been cited as a real- life example of an evil clown.[1. Further complaints of evil clown pranksters have been reported in France, the United States and lately in Germany, possibly inspired by American Horror Story: Freak Show.[1. Murder of Marlene Warren[edit]On 2. May 1. 99. 0, in Wellington, Florida, Marlene Warren opened her front door to a brown- eyed clown bearing flowers and balloons. The clown shot her in the face, drove off in a white Chrysler Le. Baron and was never seen again. Her murder remains unsolved.[1. Clown sightings[edit]In recent years, the "evil clown" phenomenon has been trending and growing. While most of these clown sightings have been harmless, there have been suspicion activities and others have been led to attacks and arrest. In 2. 01. 3 in England, the Northampton Clown appeared on the scene terrorizing the town. The work of three local filmmakers, Alex Powell, Elliot Simpson and Luke Ubanski, the Northampton clown shares similar looks to Pennywise the Dancing Clown from the Stephen King novel It.[2. Although rumors said that the clown may have a knife, the clown himself denied these rumors through social media.[1. In March 2. 01. 4, Matteo Moroni from Perugia, Italy, owner of You. Tube channel DM Pranks, began dressing up as a killer clown and terrifying unsuspecting passers- by, with his videos racking up hundreds of millions of views.[2. In 2. 01. 4, the phenomenon moved to the United States, when the Wasco clown showed up in social media in California. Again this clown would shared similar resemblance to Pennywise. During an interview with the Wasco clown, it was revealed that the social media postings are part of a year- long photography project conducted by his wife.[2. While the original Wasco clown was merely a project and for fun, other copycats also started appear and in some cases with weapons.[2. In 2. 01. 5, starting in the summer, clown sightings began to appear again. In late July, a "creepy" clown was seen around a local cemetery in Chicago and terrorizing anyone in the graveyard.[2. In 2. 01. 6, the first sighting of the "killer clowns" was in 1. August in Greenville, South Carolina by a little boy who told his mother that two clowns tried to lure him into the woods. After this appeared in the news, the sightings of these clowns spread throughout the country.[2. Response to evil clowns in media[edit]In 2. Clowns of America International responded to the depiction of Twisty on American Horror Story, and evil clowns in media generally. President Glenn Kohlberger said, "Hollywood makes money sensationalizing the norm. They can take any situation no matter how good or pure and turn it into a nightmare. Rumiko Takahashi(高橋 留美子,Takahashi Rumiko, born October 1. Japanese manga artist. With a career of several commercially successful works, beginning with Urusei Yatsura in 1. Takahashi is one of Japan's most affluent manga artists.[1][2] Her works are popular worldwide, where they have been translated into a variety of languages, with over 2. She has twice won the Shogakukan Manga Award: once in 1. Urusei Yatsura, and again in 2. Inuyasha.[4]Rumiko Takahashi was born in Niigata, Japan.[5] Although she showed little interest in manga during her childhood, she was said to occasionally doodle in the margins of her papers while attending Niigata Chūō High School. Takahashi's interest in manga did not start until later.[6] In an interview in 2. Takahashi said that she had always wanted to become a professional comic author since she was a child.[7] During her university years, she enrolled in Gekiga Sonjuku, a manga school founded by Kazuo Koike, author of Crying Freeman and Lone Wolf and Cub. Under his guidance Takahashi began to publish her first dōjinshi creations in 1. Bye- Bye Road and Star of Futile Dust. Koike often urged his students to create well- thought out, interesting characters, and this influence would greatly impact Rumiko Takahashi's works throughout her career.[6]Takahashi's professional career began in 1. Her first published work was the one- shot Katte na Yatsura, for which she was awarded the Shogakkan New Comics Award. Later that same year, she began her first serialized story in Weekly Shōnen Sunday; Urusei Yatsura, a comedic science fiction story. She had difficulty meeting deadlines to begin with, so chapters were published sporadically until 1. During the run of the series, she shared a small apartment with two assistants, and often slept in a closet due to a lack of space.[8] During the same year, she published Time Warp Trouble, Shake Your Buddha, and the Golden Gods of Poverty in Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine, which would remain the home to most of her major works for the next twenty years.[citation needed]During 1. Takahashi started her second major series, Maison Ikkoku, in Big Comic Spirits magazine. ![]() Written for an older audience, Maison Ikkoku is a romantic comedy, and Takahashi used her own experience living in an apartment complex to create the series. Takahashi managed to work on the series on and off simultaneously with Urusei Yatsura. She concluded both series in 1. Urusei Yatsura ending at 3. Maison Ikkoku at 1. During the 1. 98. Takahashi became a prolific writer of short story manga. Her stories Laughing Target, Maris the Chojo, and Fire Tripper all were adapted into original video animations (OVAs). In 1. 98. 4, during the writing of Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku, Takahashi took a different approach to storytelling and began the dark, macabre Mermaid Saga. This series of short segments was published sporadically until 1. Another short work of Takahashi's to be published sporadically was One- Pound Gospel. Takahashi concluded the series in 2. One- Pound Gospel was adapted into a live- action TV drama.[citation needed]Later, in 1. Takahashi began her third major series, Ranma ½. Following the late 1. Ranma ½ features a gender- bending twist. The series continued for nearly a decade until 1. Ranma ½ and its anime adaption are cited as some of the first of their mediums to have become popular in the United States.[1. During the latter half of the 1. Rumiko Takahashi continued with short stories and her installments of Mermaid Saga and One- Pound Gospel until beginning her fourth major work, Inuyasha. Unlike the majority of her works, Inuyasha has a darker tone more akin to Mermaid Saga and, having been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 1. On March 5, 2. 00. Rumiko Takahashi released her one- shot Unmei No Tori. On March 1. 6, 2. Mitsuru Adachi, creator of Touch and Cross Game, to release a one- shot called My Sweet Sunday. Her latest manga series, Kyōkai no Rinne started on April 2. This is Rumiko Takahashi's first new manga series since her previous manga series Inuyasha ended in June 2. Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma ½, and Inuyasha manga were all published in English in the United States by Viz Comics, but their 1. Urusei Yatsura halted after only a few volumes were translated, and it is long out of print.[1. Animation[edit]In 1. Urusei Yatsura became the first of Takahashi's works to be animated. This series first aired on Japanese television on October 1. Though the 1. 95- episode TV series ended in March 1. Also, a TV series of Mermaid Saga was produced in 2. Popularity and impact on the Western world[edit]Many of Takahashi's works have been translated into English, as well as other European languages. Takahashi said that she did not know why her works are relatively popular with English speakers. Takahashi said "Sure, there are cultural differences in my work. When I see an American comedy, even though the jokes are translated, there's always a moment when I feel puzzled and think, 'Ah, Americans would probably laugh at this more'. I suppose the same thing must happen with my books. It's inevitable. And yet, that doesn't mean my books can't be enjoyed by English- speaking readers. I feel confident that there's enough substance to them that people from a variety of cultural backgrounds can have a lot of fun reading them."[7]In February 2. Eisner Hall of Fame.[1. A few weeks ago, I saw a preview of this film that gave no indication of it's true nature. This, plus the intriguing poster led me to believe this was going to be a brooding drama in the Hitchcock tradition. Instead, I found myself watching the ugliest, most disgusting film I have ever attended of my own free will. I should have guessed when the cashier gave me a funny look while getting my ticket. The first thing I realized was the script was by an amateur. The scenes and dialog jumping around with no thought or subtlety. Like other reviewers, I knew who the torturing villain was within the first few minutes. But, I still had to sit through several scenes of dismemberment and pain, which made me sick. Sick that I had spent money to watch this disaster. I can't imagine why Lindsay Lohan would agree to be in this production. There are other venues to stretch her acting talents. Neal Mc. Donough and Julia Ormond's rent must have been due. The story, such as it is has at it's core an interesting premise. A top director might have made a respectable film out of it with a total rewrite, without the gore and more atmosphere. This movie is an absolute, total disaster. Wish#1 I’m local and I think what you are doing in our industry is awesome. I wanted to stop in and visit. Photo gallery, videos, plot outlines, cast list, trivia, mistakes, quotes, user reviews, and a message board. You May Not Know Jack Antonoff. But You Probably Love His Music. Born of that borderline self- sabotaging earnestness was the band Bleachers, an intensely personal project that Mr. Antonoff, 3. 3, has put at the center of his life ever since; “Gone Now,” out Friday, June 2, via RCA, is his second album under that moniker, and it furthers his maximalist approach to anthemic, life- affirming pop- rock about loss and just how taxing it is to be a decent human being. Photo. Credit. Tawni Bannister for The New York Times At the same time, instead of becoming a more insular musician, Mr. Antonoff has broken out as one of the most in- demand architects of modern hits — an insider’s outsider who has used his punk essence and idiosyncratic approach to forge a distinct lane of his own. He proved himself with smashes like Sara Bareilles’s “Brave” and Ms. Swift’s “Out of the Woods” and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” (with Zayn Malik), and helped to usher in a strain of ’8. In the process, he has gone from industry curio to known quantity and artist’s favorite, especially among female musicians.“Sometimes he sits at the piano and we both just start ad- libbing and the song seems to create itself,” Ms. ![]()
![]() Swift said in an email, citing Mr. Antonoff’s musical versatility. His excitement and exuberance about writing songs is contagious.” She added: “He’s an absolute joy. That’s why everyone loves him. I personally wouldn’t trust someone who didn’t.”Taylor Swift - Out of the Woods. Video by Taylor. Swift. VEVOOn top of Bleachers comes the release next month of Lorde’s “Melodrama,” for which Mr. Antonoff served as a producer, along with the singer, moving toward his goal of collaborating on complete albums instead of individual tracks. Jumping easily between worlds, he is working on new music by the cult singer and guitarist St. Vincent, and logging recording time with Pink, Carly Rae Jepsen and the Killers.“It’s weird to know you’re in a moment,” Mr. Antonoff said. “It’s not as black and white as just success or charts — you feel it when you’re in the studio.”For Mr. Antonoff, that typically means a small room crammed with synthesizers and adorned with magazine clippings (“The Women of Twin Peaks”) in the Brooklyn Heights apartment he shares with his girlfriend, the writer, director and actress Lena Dunham. While much of the hit- making industry is based in Los Angeles, Mr. Antonoff, who also has a home there, prefers to keep a remove from the pop machine when creating.“The heart and soul of pop is newness, excitement, innovation,” said Mr. Antonoff, a spirited, zealous talker who rarely stops fidgeting. The music industry is built on chasing that ambulance — ‘someone did it, let’s go that way.’ I don’t want to be a part of that. I want to be away from it.”After bringing artists into his modest space, he likes to start with a simple question: “What’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to you?”In contrast with the cold, near- scientific approach to songwriting favored by titans like Max Martin and Dr. Luke, Mr. Antonoff strives for a gut- level, emotionally probing therapy experience — “excavating,” he calls it. If someone could do it without me, then I don’t want to be there,” he said, recalling an unsuccessful experience trying to write for Rihanna, who often pulls from large pools of competitive talent. Mr. Antonoff’s work stems from intimacy. He cited “Liability,” a new piano ballad by Lorde that the pair recently performed on “Saturday Night Live,” about “what it means to become a famous person.” The song came from a conversation about how Lorde’s life had changed after her breakout debut, and it is devastating. Lorde - Liability (Live on "S. N. L.," 2. 01. 7)Video by Lorde. VEVO“What’s a kid going to listen to and really see themselves in — or see themselves in the honesty?” Mr. Antonoff said. “Sometimes the bigger of a pop star that person is, the more potent.”If empathy is Mr. Antonoff’s songwriting superpower, then he has a fitting, tragic origin story. I watched my sister die, and it changed me forever,” he said. Mr. Antonoff was 1. Manhattan; his sister Sarah, 1. Her death followed the Sept. Mr. Antonoff, touring became a form of escape. The memory of his sister is in many ways the engine of Bleachers, a band that is entirely premised on human connection. I felt so compelled to tell that story,” Mr. Antonoff said. “It’s what makes me feel like I have a reason to live.”A true believer in the purpose, weight and potential of music and fandom — even, or especially, at the mainstream level — Mr. Antonoff has built Bleachers as a bottomless text that rewards the obsessive, completist mentality he had toward bands like the Beatles and Green Day as a child growing up in suburban New Jersey. Bleachers - I Wanna Get Better. Video by Bleachers. VEVOStuffed with allusions and Easter eggs for close listeners, Bleachers’ songs are “supposed to sound like a person going crazy in a room alone — that’s what it is,” said Mr. Antonoff, who is consistently self- deprecating about his pileup of neuroses. But while the first Bleachers release, “Strange Desire,” was more like a stream- of- consciousness diary, written in hotel rooms while Mr. Antonoff was on the Fun. Gone Now” — “a giant apology to everyone who knows me” — pulls from his past while imagining a future with less baggage.“There’s only so much you can carry with you,” Mr. Antonoff said. “How do you move on as the person that you’ve worked your whole life to be and also leave space to create something else in there?”Building on the success of shout- along songs like “I Wanna Get Better,” which was a hit on alternative radio, Bleachers’ new music proudly sounds like New Jersey, which is to say like highways and late- night diners and, of course, Bruce Springsteen (especially “Everybody Lost Somebody,” with its sticky saxophone riff). Mr. Antonoff borrows liberally from his touchstones, dipping into different decades — from the Zombies to Electric Light Orchestra to Fine Young Cannibals — for a collage of parts that sound, by design, straight out of a John Hughes film. Bleachers - Everybody Lost Somebody (Audio)Video by Bleachers. VEVOOstensibly a one- man band, Bleachers is also a group effort that revolves around Mr. Antonoff’s reputation as a collaborator without boundaries. Gone Now” is packed with guests both predictable and not, with background vocals from Lorde, Ms. Jepsen and Ms. Dunham and additional production by Greg Kurstin (Adele), Sounwave (Kendrick Lamar), Nineteen. Drake) and Organized Noize (Outkast). Photo. Jack Antonoff with his girlfriend, the writer, director and actress Lena Dunham. Credit. Jamie Mc. Carthy/Getty Images It’s a combination of plain ambition and a commitment to a bespoke quality that links Mr. Antonoff’s work for himself and others.“He wanted to be the biggest and the coolest,” Tyler Childs, Mr. Antonoff’s manager, recalled of the period after “We Are Young,” when pop doors were just starting to open. Mr. Childs credits Mr. Antonoff with “moving the radio toward him,” with songs that have a personal touch — and pretty much never a carefree attitude — but do not sacrifice any bigness in sound. Mr. Antonoff knows he is “straddling a lot of fences,” merging an indie ethos and megastar associations. But “the whole goal is impact,” he said. I love connected culture. You can say forget it,” he continued, using stronger language, “and go into your corner of the sandbox, or you can try to make a difference” on a wide scale. He is also fixated on using his resources in honorable, inventive ways. For “Gone Now,” that meant executing his most quixotic idea to date: removing his teenage bedroom — where he lived until he was 2. It’s part art installation, part interactive listening parlor, Mr. Antonoff explained, so fans can hear the album “where it was most inspired in the first place.”“They can be there, touch things, feel the work where my heart and soul is,” he said, happily admitting that the project has been “financially crippling.”Earlier this month, on a trip to check the progress for the first time, Mr. Antonoff was giddy as he approached the disembodied room, which from the outside resembled a Monopoly hotel. The importance of the Bhartrihari traya (three) Shataka is nothing less than Ramayana, Geeta or Mahabharata. This Shatak unites the complex knots of life and directly captivate the human heart. People could feel divine acquiring inspiration from the Shataka. One can seldom find anything comparable to Bhartrihari Shatak, especially with relation to philosophy of life. The Vairagya Shataka, Neeti Shataka and Shringar Shataka are related to spirituality, social life and personal life respectively. But on the whole the benefits of this Shataka encompass every sphere of life. The ultimate aim of human life is attainment of the state of bliss, which is impossible until the mind is vagrant, aimless and instable. It is because of this reason that one needs love and eroticism in youth hood. Every person is endowed with some aesthetic sense. Detachment is simply impossible without aesthetic sense. The philosophy of Satyam Shivam Sundaram is rightly based on the above- mentioned concept. What is true, that only is welfare- oriented and what is welfare- oriented is undoubtedly beautiful. Shringaar adheres in totality to this concept. Man attains the highest state of bliss eventually, only after he initially treads on the path of beauty, understands the concept of morality and finally renounces desire, hatred, sensual- pleasure. Free Download A man cherishes a lady, who’s family does not have confidence in love. Rising from present India in the clashing period of sparkling innovation and profound established old customs in the time of enormous city versus residential areas, comes an adoration story fixed with a unimaginable destiny. The striking’s narrative Bablu and the bratty Dimpy. Will Bablu and Dimpys affection bloom under the fear of a severe tribe and the vicious scene it is set against. Heropanti is the account of today’s childhood, and the transitioning of its clashing heroes. Starting with a commonplace marriage succession and numerous old hat insertions later. It essentially helps you to remember couple of late movies like CHENNAI EXPRESS, SON OF SARDAR, RANGREZZ and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. The saint’s posse of companions begins exaggerating from their first scene itself and one doesn’t get inspired much till we have an all around executed pursue and escape, activity arrangement towards the mid. Regardless of having couple of bizarre scenes, the film really has a more prominent effect post interim with a passionate peak again helping you to remember DDLJ alongside an extensive term which could have been abbreviated by no less than 1. Top 1. 0 Scary Clowns in Horror Movies. Hey there Horror Fans! Got a inkling for a scary clown movie? Do creepy clowns freak you out? Asian horror movies are some of the best. Justin shares his list of the Top 10 Asian Horror Movies you have not heard of but should definitely watch! LATEST HEADLINES 'It' Devours Competition with Record-Breaking $117 Million Opening 5 hours ago; Carpool Karaoke, Meryl Streep, and Ava DuVernay’s 13th Among the. How about just plain haunting face paint that rubs you the wrong way? Well I think we all had to do a double take after the Gacy years, but for the meantime we thought we’d give you a nice little selection to choose from. Now my disclaimer on this list is “clown horror” films that I’ve yet to see which have been appropriately placed in the special mentions below. When they make the viewing circle, I might have to swap a few out ; ) My choices are subjective, but what I feel are appropriate also. Out of proper courtesy though, I do ask that commenters call a few out that “should” be in the top 1. Check out the list of top Horror movies, only on Desimartini. Get full collection of top Horror, Devil, Fear Themed films. Horror - Watch HD Horror Movies Free on Putlocker -. The Best of RT tool finds the top reviewed films of all time in any genre, sorted by the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer. Which upon that we’ll be more likely to push 1 or 2 forward on the review cycle (or bump it up to a top 2. Scary Clowns: The difference you’ll find is while some are “clown” focused films, a few others just have a smaller scary clown moments. TV shows were left out, though I did note a few memorable moments in the special mentions (sometimes scarier than the films on this list)…enjoy!(not in ranking order)=============0. Stephen King’s It (1. Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown)Now here is a no brainer. ![]() ![]() Tim Curry was scary as the Devil in “Legend“, that freak in the “Rocky Horror Picture Show”, and “especially” playing the role of “Pennywise the Clown”. I think placing Curry in any makeup simply is not a good thing for our fragile minds. HMM, maybe Curry should have been the new Freddy Krueger??? Penny Krueger” – sorry lame joke ; )0. Amusement (2. 00. Nothing amusing about one surreal clown creepster. In three tragic secrets, (stories) we get a small variety of subplots all involving the presence of clown horror. Amusement was a great film, one that I purchased right away upon viewing. If you’ve been putting this one off, don’t! It’s worthy of this list and for your DVD shelf. Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1. Campy, fun and they still look like Klowns you don’t want to wake up to. Regarded as a cult classic for campy clown films, you really can’t ignore this on as a mainstay repeat lister. For a clown film, it gets my vote for being most “8. Clownhouse (1. 98. Just before Halloween, 3 young brothers alone in a big house are menaced by three escaped mental patients who have murdered some traveling circus clowns and taken their identities.”Now “Clownhouse” wears a darker presentation than some of these others. The film was banned, then released, then not released, then released again. Watch 2015 Movies, Free 2015 Movies, Best 2015 Movies HD, m4ufree.com, m4ufree.info movies and tv shows. Interwoven stories that take place on Christmas Eve, as told by one festive radio host: A family brings home more than a Christmas tree, a student documentary becomes. Hey there Horror Fans! Got a inkling for a scary clown movie? Do creepy clowns freak you out? How about just plain haunting face paint that rubs you the wrong way? In the end, it takes its dark clowns pretty serious. If you can locate a copy…………. History aside, its still a pretty good film. ![]() ![]() Blood Harvest (1. In a small town, people are being murdered by having their throats cut.”OK, weirdo Tiny Tim plays his 1 and only role of Mervo in this obsolete movie. Tiny really didn’t have much of a movie career…. Ya I’m not sure what the public response was at the time but you can’t help but get a pit in your stomach on this one. Poltergeist (1. 98. Who can’t forget that scary clown doll creeping under the bed? This film damaged alot of youths who promptly discarded any clown toys in possession. I imagine, in Hell …clown dolls creep around on a daily basis. Time to start praying! Carnival of Souls (1. Actor Comedian Larry Miller plays the role of Louis Seagram, a rapist and murderer. While I’ll admit this was a piss poor film or bears no resemblance to its 1. Carnival of Souls”, Larry Miller comes across creepy as hell. Not so much in a fantastical way as others on this list but in a more sleezy molester kind of way. Miller should never be a clown! Killjoy (2. 00. 0)This originally wasn’t going to be one of my choices, however with a franchise (3 films) behind the character, I think ol’ Kill. Joy has earned a place. What I’m calling the scary ghetto clown, Killjoy does have one set of creepy chompers on him. He might be a prankster, but he’s not someone you want to mess with none- the- less. Zombieland (2. 00. The film had nothing to do with clowns , and is rather a full- blown zombie movie. Though there is that 1 confrontation when “zombie clown” comes after Jesse Eisenberg that stands out from this list as being a noted moment worth mention. Zombie Clowns are the worst type of clowns……. Tears (2. 00. 7)“Two journalists are on the trail of a demented serial killer who may be much closer than they think.”You got to give this one a try if you are in the mood for just simply brutal clown violence. This one takes things to the extreme with lots of gut slicing chaos! It’s a frightening clown portrayal in a less fantasy based arena.__________________________________________New entry! All Hallows’ Eve (2. While this list was published quite awhile ago, it was the recent viewing of a new clown horror film that prompted me to instantly include its entry into our list. Without changing the original list itself, I would have to put new entry “All Hallows’ Eve” as the favorite over all (even giving Stephen King’s It” a run for its money. New entry! (updated 1. American Horror Story: Freakshow (TV Series)New entry! The Legend of Wasco (2. They keep on coming…. Future brothers- in- law Tyler and Byron bond by dressing as the Wasco Clown and taking pictures that spread across the internet, a viral hit overnight. What starts as great fun turns deadly as the very real Wasco Clown returns to terrorize the town. A Tale of Legend come to Life, a test of the friends’ courage to overcome their fear of a circus nightmare, resurrected. New entry 2. 01. 6 – Clown (2. The description says it all “A loving father finds a clown suit for his son’s birthday party, only to realize that it is not a suit at all”. How about a clown suit that doesn’t want to come off as its possessed by a demon from old world times? Clown (2. 01. 4) is an entry that can’t be ignored. New entry 2. 01. 6 – Rob Zombie’s 3. Has a clown theme with killer clowns hired to kill for high stakes. Though despite a gaggle of clowns, we are going to select “doom- head” as the worthy entry here. Seen a scary clown movie? Think it should be on this list? Leave your comments below!=========================================================SPECIAL MENTIONS: Camp Blood (2. Camp Blood 2 (2. 00. Clownstrophobia (2.
